Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED), also known as “green build” design and construction principles, has moved rapidly to the forefront of design-build delivery systems. Projects specifically designed to meet exceptional economic, environmental and socially responsible standards are eligible to receive the coveted LEED certification authorized only by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Participants on the LEED project design team must be certified by the Green Build Certification Institute (GBCI) to receive credit for a given design.

As design, construction and support professionals adapt to green concepts, they have proven that pre-design integration can bring costs within budget AND deliver a certified green, silver, gold or platinum rated project to the owner. The resulting environmentally low-impact, socially conscious, sustainable designs will shape 21st century project development.

LEED projects require an integrated project delivery (IPD) team of qualified design and installation professionals from all major system disciplines, including mechanical plumbing systems; to develop, deliver and qualify a project for the necessary credits to receive certification from GBC1. In addition to accreditation and design efficiencies, the owner often receives tax support and incentives for “going green”.

RKS Plumbing & Mechanical Inc. has dedicated a team of specialized and qualified personnel, educated and certified to participate with the IPD Team to introduce the latest renewable energy concepts and green build innovation to the design.
